A CHANCE TO SEE JERSEY’S HOME MADE MOVIE

The controversy leading to the making of The Crooked Mile feature film uncovers a chance for the taxpayers to see what all the fuss was about when the States of Jersey were asked to part fund it. The premiere screening in Jersey took place at the Arts Centre on the 4th October 2001. (This included a workshop during the day for schools around the island).

REEL FILM BOOST FOR LITTLE DAYNA

“SCHOOLGIRL Dayna McKiernan (10) is set for stardom after landing the main role in a movie which has just scooped a major international award”.

A screen natural, she was cast as Anna in the entertaining Irish Road Movie, which involves the adventure of a lifetime on the road from Dublin to Tramore.

FINAL CUT THE TICKET

Further critical acclaim for The Crooked Mile as it becomes the first non-US feature film to win a Tribeca Award founded by superstar Robert de Niro. Present at the award ceremony were “Irish writer / director Stephen Kane and producers Julie Daly-Wallman, Avril Ryan and Triona Campbell. The Crooked Mile will receive two screenings in New York followed by a reception and introduction to leading American industry professionals”. * * * * *

Standing ovation at the Galway Film Fleadh for the successful feature film screening of The Crooked Mile, Irelands top film critic Michael Dwyer reports “The apparently limitless line of striking child actors with the debuts of Dayna McKiernan in The Crooked Mile the film is a breezy and quirky road movie that proves difficult to resist. A true screen natural, McKiernan is a joy to observe. Only in the closing credits does it become clear that the convincing locations were, in fact shot in Jersey”
